Texas Oncology

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center

Our BMT program is a partnership with Texas Oncology (Outpatient) and Baylor University Medical Center (Inpatient) and began almost 40 years ago.  The BMT program performed it’s first adult marrow transplant in 1983 and it’s first matched unrelated donor transplant in 1988.  We have 5 Blood and Marrow Transplant Physicians, 2 outpatient APPs and 4 Inpatient APPs.  Our multidisciplinary BMT care team is comprised of a wide array of healthcare professionals to provide physical, emotional, spiritual, and social support to BMT patients and their families and caregivers.  We also offer additional resources such as outpatient infusion areas, special transplant patient housing and an Oncology Evaluation and Treatment Center for after-hours medical care.   Following transplant, we focus on educating patients and caregivers with the knowledge to optimize the patient’s health.  Our education addresses managing late effects of treatment, preventing secondary cancers and improving quality of life.  In addition to transplant services, our physicians also provide CAR-T therapy.
