The Cellular Immunotherapies and Transplantation (CIT) Program at the VCUHS Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center is proud to serve all patients needing care in Virginia and surrounding states. As a safety net hospital, we provide cutting edge transplant and cellular therapy based care to all who would benefit and continue that supportive care through a robust Long Term Follow-up program for years.
As a comprehensive CIT program, we offer autologous and all donor sourced allogeneic transplants. We have the largest experience in Virginia with CARt cell therapy for lymphoma and multiple myeloma. Our program is an authorized treatment center using Tumor Infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) as therapy for metastatic melanoma no longer responding to standard immunotherapies. In collaboration with our nationally recognized sickle cell program we also offer transformative gene therapy for sickle cell disease and Beta Thalassemia.
Through clinical trials, we offer cellular therapies for other solid tumor cancers, and continue to expand these efforts. Finally, in collaboration with neurology, rheumatology, nephrology and the renal transplant programs here, we are engaged in clinical trials to treat non-malignant diseases such as multiple sclerosis, myasthenia Gravis, and lupus nephritis.
We have created a medical home within our ambulatory clinic so that patients may meet with necessary subspecialty physicians such as pulmonologists, infectious disease experts, endocrinology, nephrology, psychiatry and cardio-oncologist as well as their CIT provider teams. In this way, better communication between teams can be made, and patients can see subspecialists who are well versed in the cellular therapies they are receiving.
At Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center, we strive to offer the very best of care to all whom we serve. Our CIT program lives the Massey motto of "One Team, One Fight".
